The Moroccan Children's Trust

At Riad Porte Royale we try hard to provide sustainable tourism.  For some years now we have both endorsed and volunteered with the Moroccan Children's Trust, a UK registered charity.

Working in partnership with local association Fondation Amane pour la Protection de l’Enfance (FAPE) the charity runs an international volunteer project alongside social and educational development programmes primarily focused on improving outcomes for street-connected children and their families.  Their sustainable approach is what separates them from other organisations, and its projects are culturally sensitive and embedded in the community.

Volunteers from over the world are involved with local institutions such as schools and orphanages.  At their Street Child Centre in Taroudant is a project for street children that employs local people as social workers and teachers to help keep children in school and their homes and away from the streets, as well as to help with medical and legal problems that street children face.
